Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Introducing the Bird Pups! This litter, born 6/1/25, has a delightful mix of heeler (Australian Cattle Dog), Labrador, and who knows what else - we like to call these hodgepodge mixed breeds LeMuttes because they deserve a fancy breed name, they are spectacular little creatures! Their current sizes (as of 8/15) are pretty much all right around 10#; the two outliers are Wren, the largest (closer to 12#), and Heron, the smallest (closer to 8#). They will likely be between 45# - 60# when full grown, so nice medium-sized dogs (though, of course, with mixed breeds we cannot guarantee anything - if one of them has some hidden chihuahua or Great Dane in the mix somewhere, your size may vary, HA). Since we KNOW they have a good dose of heeler from the mom (who has been spayed and returned to her family under our Stop the Cycle program), it's safe to assume these pups will be active dogs who will enjoy having active families. The seven pups in this litter are: WREN - female, black & white with more white CANARY - female, black & white with more black STARLING - female, red & white, lighter red than the boys, lighter eye color HERON - male, red & white, very little white on face TOUCAN - male, red & white, lots of white w/a red saddle PIGEON - male, red & white, small white collar, lots of white on face FLICKER - male, red & white, red diamond outlined with white on neck Based on how quickly our prior litter of heeler mix pups was adopted, we recommend doing your application ASAP, and let us know your top three choices in order of preference, so if your top choice is already taken, we can consider your application for the next choice on your list. If you'd love any one of these adorable puppers without having a favorite, you can let us know that, too! Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. These pups' ideal homes will have someone who can exercise them with a couple of energetic walks each day, plus commitment to training them how to be the best dogs they can be. They hope to have very few hours per day when they will be without the companionship of a human or other pet, and will reward their forever people with boundless love and loyalty! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Wren is a suggested minimum of $175 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
