Introducing Shelby, a 41-pound mixed-breed black and white dog who looks like a Kelpie with a touch of border collie in the mix, arrived as a stray and was never claimed. She appears to be a juvenile, with an estimated date of birth of 5/15/24.

Shelby is a sweet and playful girl who is energetic and eager to learn. Every day she works on commands with the staff and volunteers, and seems like she will be fun for her owner to train.

She’s an active girl who loves to play with other dogs and is in multiple play groups. Shelby appears to be housetrained and has not had any accidents in her kennel.. She’s vocal and will let you know when she needs to go outside.

Shelby seems very interested in cats, wanting to chase them. She might do fine with a calm and confident dog-savvy cat, but we'd recommend very slow supervised introductions.

As is common with juveniles, particularly those that have experienced being lost or abandoned, Shelby tends to jump up for attention; our volunteers have been working with her on this behavior and we have already noticed improvement.

She would fit best in a home with lots of space to run and play with other dogs, and would enjoy an active family.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Shelby is a suggested minimum of $125 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
