Meet Kookaburra, or Kooka for short! This gorgeous girl is an absolute jewel of a find, offering the perfect blend of outdoor adventure buddy and world-class snuggler. She is a beautiful, 53 lb, one-year-old pup who is ready to steal your heart and become your loyal sidekick.

Kooka is an active girl with plenty of high energy, making her the perfect match for anyone who loves to run, hike, and play. She is always up for an adventure and absolutely loves going for car rides. Once the outdoor fun is done, she has a wonderful off-switch and will settle down beautifully to snuggle up with her people. There is nothing she loves more than a good belly rub while cuddling on the couch.

When it comes to other four-legged friends, Kooka is a social butterfly! She gets along great with both other dogs and cats. She does like to chase cats just for fun, so she will need a dog-savvy cat sibling who isn't afraid to stand their ground and let her know when enough is enough. With the right feline counterpart to keep her in check, she will fit wonderfully into a home with existing pets.

Because she is a sensitive soul who is still learning that the world is a safe place, she can be initially apprehensive of new people and may feel fearful around small children, so a home with older kids or adults only would be the best fit for her.

Kooka is house trained, though she does have a tendency to submissive pee when she is in a new environment. This is just her way of showing she is a little overwhelmed, and it will fade away as she learns she can trust you. She also has a habit of fear barking at things that startle her. Our dedicated volunteers discovered a brilliant, easy trick to help her: if she starts barking at something, simply walk over to the scary object with her, look at it, and then turn your back on it. This simple gesture lets her know that you have assessed the situation, determined it is safe, and have everything under control.

What Kooka needs most is a confident leader who will protect her from all the scary dangers of the big wide world. With consistency, patience, and a loving home, her confidence will naturally soar. Before you know it, the fear barking, apprehensiveness with strangers, and submissive pees will be a thing of the past, leaving you with a confident, joyful, and deeply devoted companion. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Kookaburra is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.
