Introducing Bruce, also known as "The Bruce Dozer," an unbelievably resilient 65-pound survivor who is ready to plow his way into your heart just like he does when he's looking for affection. Bruce is a total "velvet tank"—short in stature but built with a strength that matches his incredible spirit.

UPDATE: Bruce is officially all healed up! His broken back leg and paw injury are a thing of the past (mostly). While he completely believes he is ready to embrace life at full speed, his paw can still get a bit sore after a long hike or overuse, so he'll just need someone to help him pace himself.

Bruce is a "velcro dog" who thrives on human companionship and wants to be right where you are at all times. He is very loving and snuggly, often rewarding your attention with a unique "happy grunt". He is also a "mouth guy," meaning he often gently grabs for your hands with his mouth to show affection—it’s just his way of staying close to you.

Bruce is a strong boy who pulls on the leash, but he is a fast learner who does well with direction from our staff and volunteers. He has already made several female dog friends here at the shelter. While we haven't been able to introduce him to other males yet because our current residents aren't the biggest fans of other boys, he shows great potential for having a sister in the home. We also recently performed a leashed cat test and Bruce did very well; he did not try to actively chase or "eat" the cat. While we don't know for sure how he would behave loose, he shows a very promising start for a home with feline friends.

Bruce is already housetrained and loves people of all shapes and sizes, though because of his tank like nature he may not be suitable for a home with small children/toddlers running around. If you have a heart ready for a sturdy, loving bestie who has proven he can overcome anything, The Bruce Dozer is waiting for you.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Bruce is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
