Dartmouth KLS06

1 year old · Adopted

Our IVY LEAGUE litter of kittens, born 7/3/22, came in when they were just a week old, part of a feral colony on which we did Trap-Neuter-Return. They and their mama stayed with us so that these cuties would have the gift of a home, rather than being returned to the colony.

We've discovered they have a full range of reactions to "strangers" in their orbit, and have detailed their individual purrrsonalities below. All should ultimately adapt beautifully to any type of home/family, though Cornell and Harvard would adjust more quickly in a "zen-like" calm setting.

PRINCETON - male, grey/white medium haired tuxedo; the most outgoing of the bunch, nothing bothers this boy.

HARVARD - male, light grey tabby (larger than Yale, slightly); he is frightened by new people, places, and things, though calms down quickly when he realizes he isn't being eaten by anything.

CORNELL - female, brown torbie, white left rear foot; she is convinced that anything new in her world means to do her harm, and is resigned to the horrible end that awaits. She will snuggle into her cat bed and try to disappear, and looks incredulous when she realized all she is being tormented with is some petting and cuddling.

YALE - male, light grey tabby (slightly smaller than Harvard); he is cautiously optimistic about people, would probably not appreciate bedlam and may only greet your friends and relatives that he really likes.

DARTMOUTH - male, black; almost as outgoing as Princeton, should integrate easily.

Kittens like this who have some survival instincts and "street smarts" - and who are not "easy prey" colors like orange or white - often do well in indoor/outdoor homes, and survive longer than totally fearless kittens. Of course, indoor-only is always safest for any cat, and for the neighborhood birds, too!

We'd love to see all kittens go to homes that have another young, playful kitten, or to send 2 of them out as a pair (which gives you a great pair discount rate), but we do not require pair adoptions. If you prefer to adopt just one, and you don't have a similarly aged kitten at home already, please read our information on Single Kitten Syndrome. Then, when you apply for a single kitten, please let us know in the "Comments" field how you plan to deal with the "kitten crazies."

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Dartmouth is a suggested minimum of $65 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
