Introducing Columbia

This sweet but shy girl, born around 4/1/2025, arrived at the shelter with her kittens in tow, after being found abandoned outside a home.

Columbia has raised and launched her babies successfully, and is now starting to figure out that humans are actually pretty nice, and having regular meals and a safe place to sleep isn't the worst thing in the world. As you can see from her video, she is still stuck a bit in "flight mode" and hasn't taken the time to learn how to play, or how to relax on a person's lap.

The good news is, she will let us pick her up and we can tell that, with the right person and some patience, she could learn how to let herself be loved.

She's not a fan of dogs, and the energy levels and sounds of small children will probably always be on her least-favorite-things list. She does enjoy the company of other calm kitties.

While kitties like Columbia may need a little extra patience and TLC, there is nothing as rewarding as the first time your shy cat jumps up on your bed and chooses to sleep next to you. Trust me, it's worth the wait.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Columbia is a suggested minimum of $50 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
