Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Meet little Huckleberry – the sweetest 100% shelter-grown baby who’s been stealing hearts here since he was just a tiny 4-5 week old fluffball! Huckleberry, now all grown up at 1 1/2 years old, is a total lovebug with the chillest personality you’ll ever meet. He’s super affectionate, adores pets and cuddles, and will happily flop over for belly rubs (he even gives the gentlest little “love nibbles” when he’s feeling extra happy – it’s his way of saying “I wuv you!”). This playful boy goes absolutely bonkers for laser pointers – the second he hears the drawer open he starts the cutest chirps and trills, bouncing around like “IT’S GO TIME!!” He’ll chase that little red dot for hours, leaping and pouncing like a tiny panther. Wand toys, crinkle balls, anything that moves – he’s all in! Huckleberry is wonderfully social too: Dog-friendly (he’ll calmly sniff noses through the playpen and couldn’t care less about woofs) Cat-friendly (he’d love a kitty sibling!) Kid-approved (gentle and patient with little humans) Huckleberry spent a LONG time on medical hold due to surgery for a very large intestinal hernia, followed by some severe digestive troubles. He’s doing SO much better on his special diet and medication. He eats Hill’s Prescription m/d GlucoSupport (about $75/bag, which lasts for about 2 months) and takes a simple prednisolone schedule (½ pill one day, 1 full the next – around $20/month). The vets say with this easy routine he should keep feeling great for life! He will always have extra-soft stool, usually unformed, but he is fastidious about leaving everything in the litterbox, so his condition does not result in any unsanitary conditions or additional work for his servant - uh, I mean, adopter. The usual litterbox protocols work just fine. If you’re looking for a laid-back, snuggly, playful best friend who will chirp at laser pointers and melt in your lap, Huckleberry is ready to be your one-and-only heart-stealer. Come meet this perfect little gentleman – he’s been waiting his whole life for YOU! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Huckleberry is a suggested minimum of $50 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
