Maunaloa 1827
1 year old · Adoption Pending
Maunaloa arrived as a stray and was never claimed, so some lucky family is going to get a really fun companion! We've given her a guesstimated date of birth of 7/1/2022, and our collective best guess at her breed mix includes heeler and husky, along with who knows what else. We hope DNA testing becomes something inexpensive and easy for shelters to do one day - until then, we must leave that to her adopter and hope you'll let us know! This high energy girl weighs about 50 pounds, is housetrained, loves toys and adventures, and enjoys all sorts of people. She plays well with other similarly sized dogs at the shelter. She would likely chase a cat that runs from her, but if you have a dog-savvy cat that will stand his ground, Maunaloa may be able to be trained to tolerate him. She would benefit from some obedience training - she wants to make her people happy but isn't always sure how to behave, so sometimes jumps up and is a bit too boisterous. Toddlers may be bowled over by her enthusiasm, so we'd recommend her for families with older children, or adult-only homes. Maunaloa will need lots of exercise and adventure, and would love to learn something fun like agility or parkour or dancing, or to accompany her people on all sorts of interesting trips. Who would like to introduce Maunaloa to the joys of pupperccinos?? All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Maunaloa is a suggested minimum of $125 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
