Bonnie 1635

1 year old · Adoptable · $125

Bonnie came to Forget Me Not to find a home that is a better fit for her high energy level; her former person loved her, but just couldn't keep up with her exercise needs. Bonnie is a boxer/heeler mix, born 8/5/20, who currently weighs 73 pounds.

She is housetrained, knows a few commands (but would benefit from additional training with her new person), and loves going for walks, gnawing a tasty bone, chasing balls, and chewing up squeaky toys. She is fine with other dogs outside the home, but prefers to not share her person (or toys or bones) with another dog in the home. Bonnie has not yet been tested with cats, but we will do so if you have a dog-friendly feline who thinks Bonnie looks cute.

Other than her high energy, Bonnie's challenges include barking ferociously at strangers (not necessarily a bad thing - she's all bark and calms down quickly for a cookie), chewing her toys to bits, and some separation anxiety. She is anxious on car rides, too, and will benefit from an experienced owner who can teach her that cars take you to wonderful adventures, and the people always, always, come back (and there are treasures to be had during times the people are out - maybe it's the only time she gets that ONE SPECIAL TOY... whatever helps her look forward to some "me time").

She has a heart full of love and a real joy about her when she is playing. She is still technically a puppy and is often easily distracted (as you can see in the beginning of her video - she wants to play, but there is Kora in the other yard, and Kora is ALSO very interesting). Bonnie is going to be an exceptional companion for the right person, who has the time and patience to give her the exercise she needs and to help her past her current moderate anxiety.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Bonnie is a suggested minimum of $125 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
