Aster 1486

Aster transferred in to our Sammi Fund senior dog program from an out of county shelter. He is an approximately 9 year old "young senior" chihuahua, weighing under 10 pounds, who is eager to spend the next half of his life learning all about the wonderful parts of being a dog, in a calm, quiet, adult household.

Aster is seeking an Emotional Support Human (or two, or more). He is a high-strung nervous chihuahua who would love for you to teach him that life is safe and good things happen. He enjoys treats (though still acts like he can't believe they are actually for him), and spends most of his time shaking and quaking, awwwwww.

He has had a dental and had several teeth removed. He has been diagnosed with a heart murmur, but not one bad enough to keep him from being anesthetized for the dental, yay!

Aster is housetrained and does not suffer from Little Big Dog syndrome - in fact, everything scares him (A CAT! A LEAF! A HUMAN! A SNOWFLAKE!) but he is nonaggressive with his fear, and just whispers under his breath, "...hold... me... eeek." He warms up to people quickly when he sees they are kind, and should ultimately adapt just fine to a home with other friendly pets around his little size. He would probably benefit from a confident dog friend to show him everything is OK, but would also adapt to being an only pet if you prefer.

Do you have what it takes to be an Emotional Support Human and turn life around for a scared, shy, older furry family member? Aster can't wait to meet you, to learn how to have fun, and to discover what kinds of treats you prefer!

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee is a suggested minimum of $50 (more gratefully accepted), or Senior for Senior - adopters over 65 may name their own adoption fee. All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. The trial period can be extended if he has not settled in within the first 30 days - sometimes it can take 2 months for a particularly timid dog to relax enough to fit in.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our transport expenses, that would be great!
