Neptune 1454

Neptune spent a long month (or possibly more) living on the kindness of strangers at a remote campground. Then Labor Day arrived, the strangers trickled off along with summer, and Neptune finally asked for help from a nearby home. They brought him to us, where our volunteers immediately began smothering him with love and letting him know his life is getting a WHOLE lot better.

Since we know nothing about him other than of his time at the campground, we are left to guess at his breed. He is about 40 pounds, so a nice medium size, and we are guessing he has some shepherd in there, along with maybe some Rhodesian Ridgeback, and a healthy dose of Mystery Mutt. It all adds up to Neptune's own blend of perfection.

His estimated date of birth is 10/1/15. He is housetrained, respectful of other dogs (including small, old dogs - good for you, Neptune), and seems uninterested in the cats when he is in their yard and they are on their screened porches. He adores humans and soaks up attention like a big, cuddly sponge. His only really bad habit is that he jumps up quite a lot, though does so as gently as he can. He is very food motivated, so should be fairly quick to train (he's already gotten the idea of "four on the floor" for treats, but he just gets SO excited it sometimes takes him a bit to remember).

He knows "sit" and "shake" pretty well, and the volunteers report that he loves to chase a ball and will usually bring it right back to be tossed again. He is working on leash training, and brings a huge amount of joy to everything he does. He prefers to be with his human as much as possible - if you are inside, and he is outside, he will do all he can to rectify that obvious error so that he can be with you where he belongs. He'll make a great "right hand dog" for a lucky adopter!

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated (Neptune may need a booster if adopted prior to October 29). Adoption fee for Neptune is a suggested minimum of $95 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our transport expenses, that would be great!
