Bear 1445

Bear, a handsome one-eyed shepherd mix born about 10/1/14, ended up at the shelter after his original owner abandoned him. Neighbors took him in for a while, but when they had to move, Bear had nowhere else to call home, so he is with us until his new family finds him and invites him home.

Bear is a solid 90+ pounds of furry love. We do not know how or when he lost his eye, but it does not hurt him or seem to give him any trouble at all. He appears a little bedraggled and moth-eaten, like that well-loved (and well-worn) childhood teddy bear, but his heart is happy and full of life. It's impossible to resist one of Bear's smiles, and he is so grateful for all kind attentions directed his way that he shares that smile all day long.

The neighbors that cared for him said he was good with their children, and he seems to be tolerant of other dogs. He doesn't seem to be troubled by the shelter cats when they are on their screened porches, and if you have a cat, we can do additional in-person testing to make sure he's willing to accept a cat as the Supreme Being of the Household. (Yes, we know all cats are always the Supreme Beings, at least if you ask the cats).

Bear's only major quirk is that he is not fond of riding in the car. If you want a "right hand dog" that will gleefully leap into the truck barking "I'VE GOT SHOTGUN" Bear is not the one for you. However, if you're looking for a dog that loves to stay home and snuggle, needs just a moderate amount of daily activity, and fills your heart with joy every day, Bear is a perfect choice.

It's time for Bear to finally have a loving forever home; are you the lucky person who will be sharing the rest of Bear's life with him?

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Bear is a suggested minimum of $95 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our transport expenses, that would be great!
