Diego, whose birth date is estimated to be 3/17/18, came to us as a stray after he was reported abandoned in a woman's yard with a note stating his name was Diego and he needed a good home. Given his size, coloring, and gentile demeanor, we think his breed is a mix of Australian cattle dog and great Pyrenees. Diego is a big dog (currently 79 lbs) and will likely top out in the 90 to 100 pound range. He is indifferent to cats, good with respectful kids, and is friendly and playful with other dogs, especially his good buddy Odin. Initially, he was a bit rough when playing with Sitka, a 4 month old pup here at the shelter, but has realized his size and they now play nicely together. Diego is house trained and has never soiled his kennel here at Forget Me Not.
We believe Diego wasn’t treated very well early in life as he sometimes flinches with rapid hand and arm movements. He is a mellow boy who really wants nothing more than to hang out with his people (he loves being in the office with the staff) and to play with his many toys. His ideal home will be as an indoor companion so he can be part of the household, and one where he can enjoy an moderately active lifestyle. Due to his size he will not make a good running companion but if you are looking for a hiking or walking companion and are willing to open your heart and home to this gentle giant, Diego is the one for you.
All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Diego is suggested minimum $95 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
