Sitka is a special little guy who is friendly, responsive, smart and affectionate. He was a member of the Candy Litter, born 7/13/18, and was adopted but later returned to the shelter because the new family was allergic to him. He is a Lab/Husky/Pit mix whose mother was reported to be a Blue Nose Pit, and his suspected dad a Lab/Husky mix. We expect he will be a medium-to-large dog. This is his mother, who was spayed and returned to her family under our Stop the Cycle Program.
Sitka loves to hang out with staff in the office, and play with his best buddy, Odin. He is mindful of cats, and is good with respectful children. He knows how to sit, is mostly gentle when taking treats, and loves to romp and play with toys. While he is energetic (he is a pup after all, HA), he isn’t overly so. We find him to be eager to please, ready to learn, and focused on humans. He is almost house trained but does have some accidents in his kennel now and then. Our Volunteers continue to work with this little guy to bring out his best traits so his next adoption is successful (Plus he is so darned cute everyone wants to cuddle with him!).
Sitka should adapt to home with other pets and/or children, and wants a life as an indoor family dog. Puppies require a lot of human interaction, and all puppies will benefit from obedience training and full immersion in their human household. Sitka’s ideal home will have someone who can exercise him with a couple of energetic walks or play sessions each day (tired puppies make happy owners, Ha Ha). He will also require commitment to training him how to be the best dog he can be. Sitka hopes to have very few hours per day when he will be without the companionship of a human or other pet. If you have the time and energy to devote to Sitka he will reward you with loyalty and love for his lifetime.
All dogs arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and with all age-appropriate vaccinations; Sitka will need a rabies vaccination at around 6 months of age. Adoption fee is suggested minimum $95 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
