Poppy 1198

Poppy, born 5-23-12, is a 70 pound hound mix that transferred in from a high kill shelter where she showed up as a stray that no one claimed.

Initially shy and a bit fearful (that may be her typical response to new things), since her arrival she has blossomed into a happy, curious, friendly and playful girl.

Poppy made it clear from the beginning that she views cats as prey. Now that Poppy is comfortable in her shelter surroundings, she is showing us that she can be dog-selective; some dogs she enjoys, some she tolerates, and some she actively dislikes. If you have a dog currently, it will be important for you to bring the dog to the shelter to meet Poppy prior to adoption. Otherwise, we have not yet been able to determine what traits in other dogs set her off, so she would be best suited in a home where she would be the only pet.

Since Poppy is a hound and tends to follow her nose, a fenced yard will be important to keep her from roaming.

She knows how to sit, is great with kids, has never shown any aggression towards humans, is good in the car and on a leash. She will be a wonderful and devoted companion to her lucky people.

If this sounds like your dream dog then Poppy says take me I’m ready!

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Poppy is suggested minimum $95 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your payment to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
