Sydney is a rare late-in-life returnee to Forget Me Not; she was originally adopted as a puppy in 2006, but came back to us when her owner was no longer able to care for her (we commit to every Forget Me Not pet and adopter for the life of the pet). We welcomed Sydney back as part of our Sammi Fund for Seniors program.
Sydney really misses her person and is just now starting to grow in confidence in her new shelter setting. She has gotten used to her new routine, has bonded with many of the volunteers, and is blossoming into a happy and confident senior. She enjoys hanging out on the office couch with her favorite people, and is especially fond of back scratches and ear rubs. She gets along well with other friendly dogs and seems curious but not aggressive toward the cats.
She arrived with a chronic ear infection, for which treatment is ongoing (this leads to a fair amount of head-shaking behavior); it is likely, due to the chronic nature of the infection, that her treatment will have to continue post-adoption, but it is fairly easy and not terribly expensive.
Sydney enjoys spending some time outside, but is really more suited to an indoor companion lifestyle - she'd love a spot by the fire on a cold winter day, or to lay her head on your feet while you watch TV. She will do best in a moderately quiet home where she can lounge in comfort with people she trusts, without too much chaos and confusion. We recommend her for adult homes or homes with older, respectful children - no shrieking toddler parties for Sydney, she says "been there, done that, I'm retired now." Don't let this old girl fool you though, she would enjoy an active life filled with car rides, walks with her people, and new adventures. This senior has plenty of life and love to give to the right person, and will reward you with loyalty and unlimited affection.
Sydney comes with a 30-day money-back trial adoption period.
Spay/neuter, worming, microchip and all age-appropriate shots are always completed before placement, and are included in the adoption fee (suggested minimum $50 or Senior for Senior - adopters over 65 may name their own adoption fee; more gratefully accepted!)
Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your payment to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
