Sparrow knows he currently resembles a lamb, or maybe an alpaca, but he promises that once his fur grows back, he will be a glorious long-haired black kitty with grey ruff and grey undercoat - stunning! You can see a bit of his ruff in the last photo, which is his blurry intake picture prior to his vet visit.
He arrived as a stray, a senior of about 10 years out on his own, fighting neighborhood cats for food. Since arriving at the shelter, he has been neutered, had all that terribly matted fur shaved off (revealing his soft lamb-like undercoat), and has turned out to be a sweet, semi-independent but still somewhat cuddly, slightly playful, easy-keeper of a kitty. He seems uninterested in the other cats in his room, and non-aggressive toward them, making us think he would do fine as an only cat, or he could be slowly introduced to a friendly resident cat.
Sparrow struts his stuff in his lion-cut on his video, but he clearly just wants to go wherever the people are, rather than performing for the camera. He would be a good indoor-outdoor cat, though would likely be happy to become an indoor-only cat with enough fun perches, snuggles, window seats, and toys (not to mention ALL THE DINNER HE CAN EAT!!). He is a Big Boi at about 14 pounds (though a couple of pound of that might have been fur, ha).
If you have a warm lap, comfy couch, frequent sun spots, and a laid-back lifestyle, this senior would love to join your family for his retirement home. It takes a special soul to love a senior, knowing he may have only 10 (or fewer) years left, but Sparrow guarantees he will not take a single day of life with you for granted.
All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee is a suggested minimum of $20 (more gratefully accepted), or Senior for Senior (for adopters over 65 adopting a senior pet, adoption fee is optional). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.
