11/3/15:

So far so good!  Ripley is settling in wonderfully.  We're working on crate training, and those times of isolation are hardest on her - we can definitely tell she is used to being in a pile of puppies.  (As Adam says to Ripley, "I get it - who wouldn't want to sleep in a pile of puppies?")  She is already amazing us with her smarts.  We're on day four and I have only had to clean up a few messes.  Aside from a few accidents, we've been watching her carefully and have made it outside pretty much every time.  She is already getting that she is supposed to go to the bathroom outside.  She actually "brought me her leash" last night and I was so shocked and we went straight outside and she used the bathroom!  (I think she actually just managed to grab it off the chair it was on and wanted to play with it, but I took it as a sign of her brilliance.)    So far we've only had to leave her for a couple hours at a time because I can run home easily during the work day, and at night she is really figuring out how to cue us that she needs out.  Basically ANY time she cries, leash goes on and we go outside.  The first night was rough because she cried a LOT and we took her outside a LOT, but she's hardly howling at all now, so we know immediately when she needs to go outside.  Very smart little girl.
