7/7/14:

Little did we know how much in love we could be with our little tiny Twinkie once we brought her home! Upon introducing her to our 2 year old Cockapoo, Punkin' Butt, we knew right away we'd made the right decision by pairing these two up. Twinkie settled into our home and hearts very quickly, has caught on to simple commands thanks to her new big sis, who has been teaching Twinkie the ropes very well. It's been so fun watching her evolve into a smart little puppy, at first she didn't seem to be into playing with toys much, which Punkin' is all about (she has her own toy basket full of toys), but now after watching her big sis play, she wants every toy! We love to watch the two play together, playing tug of war, or their races through the house, we always get good laughs watching!

When it comes to bedtime, Twinkie will hop onto Melanie's bed and go directly to the blanket opening and burrow her way to the most comfy spot in the bed while Punkin' sleeps at the foot of the bed. She's always ready and willing to lick your face clean, and as Tiffany puts it, has a stealthy little tongue! We have worked with her enough now that when we ask her to stop, she usually will.

We took Twinkie on her first road trip with us up to Twisp about a week after we brought her home, and I'm so happy to report that she did very well walking through town on a leash! She did great around other dogs and strange people, she barked until I told her they were ok, then she would lick their hand. A few weeks ago she was with us at Prospectors' Days where we provide the petting zoo, she did so well, accepted tons of strangers in our area without barking, got held by lots of kids, went on walks on her leash and had lots of fun!

We couldn't be happier with our decision on bringing Twinkie home to become a part of our family! Better match than we ever first thought! Thank you Forget Me Not for our new family member, our new little sister for Punkin', and making us feel like we can't imagine our lives without our little Twinkie! FYI- Just in case you hear it through the grapevine, she does have a new nickname... Chi-Chi Rodriguez...
