Well you were right (no surprise there)...Goldfinch is one GREAT kitty!
Tiffany supplied us with a halter, towel and diaper for the trip so Goldfinch got to ride in the front of the truck with his new people. He was so good. After spending an hour or so being curious about the windshield and trees zipping by he settled down for a nap. I put him in the kennel before getting on North Cascades Highway as the curves can be uncomfortable and a bit scary. Not a peep was heard from him.
We got home just after dark. I made a nice space for him in our office with food, water, litter box, his kennel and blanket and he ‘retired’ after sitting with us in the living room for about an hour. We kept him separated from Bean (the cat) and Griz (the dog) for the first two days by putting him in his room when the others were in the house. We have introduced him to Bean who will rule the roost as she hisses at him and lets him know he is just a guest in her home. Griz is fascinated by him. Goldfinch tried sitting next to Griz in the truck on the way home and Griz just acted baffled. Bean does NOT EVER cuddle with Griz so I’m thinking Griz has a BFF now.
Jacques and I have been able to spend lots of time with Goldfinch (think we’ll change the name tho) and he is a treasure. He is mostly calm except when he has kitten fits and plays with his new toys and runs around the house to blow off steam. He really, really, really wants to go outside with Bean and Griz but he enjoys our company enough to be calm and nap most of the time.
I love this cat! He is everything I could wish for and we are so lucky to have him in our lives. I look forward to the time when he can play with his new pals and enjoy the beautiful property we have here. Thank you soooooo much, you have given us a lot of joy.
