Cotinga just sort of follows Ava around and lays nearby during all activities, including meals.
The new kitty friend was very exciting at first..
Again, Cotinga just follows Ava around and stares at her.
This was her favorite blanky before we made her a new one.
The blanket-making process was very exciting, Cotinga couldn't resist playing in the extra material.
The two of them can't hold still for pictures..
And Cotinga looooves stretching in the sun from the windows.

Here's a picture of the first time Cotinga tried to play with Ava. They both lost interest quickly.
And here's Cotinga's favorite blankey in her favorite corner

In case you guys don't have anything to laugh about at the shelter today, I thought you might enjoying hearing about Cotinga's new trick. She has recently discovered that life in the kitchen is much more fun when she simply opens the cupboards, crawls inside, rattles the pots and pans around, then pushes her head out (happy as a clam) and scares the heck out of us when we come to investigate the noise. At first we thought maybe we left a cupboard open and accidentally shut her in there, but today I was cooking and I actually watched her open the door and squeeze inside. She came back out when I called for her!3/8/14
Cotinga still remains relatively nameless as Juno doesn't seem quite right on her--but we'll keep you posted. Beyond that, things are going swimmingly! She and Ava (the dog) get along very well. Ava seems happier having a friend. Cotinga was absolutely glued to our sides for the first few days and she still frequently wakes us up for reassurance at night, but as of today she plays with her toys without prompting. She even climbed on her cat tree all by herself--these are big steps for a cat who seemed to live on nothing more than human affection for four days haha. I think she's settling in very well. I'm shocked by how outgoing she is. She's a wonderful cat! I can't believe she was at the shelter for so long. We have gradually transitioned her from Science Diet to Taste of the Wild cat food and she really likes it...that doesn't stop her from occasionally munching the dog's food though. I'll send pictures soon!
