Zelda is the sweetest little girl. She loves people and playing with other dogs. Marie’s done a great job with her, and she seems pretty smart. Zelda acts much older. Marie and Zelda moved back home this past summer after Marie graduated from UW; Marie’s now in the process of applying to law schools.

Hobbes is probably the largest cat I’ve ever owned; his paws are just huge, and he can reach up on a cabinet and swat at things on a counter. He’s very accustomed to Zelda and our other dog and cat. He’s friendly in that he wants to be around us and is not afraid of people, but he doesn’t like being picked up or being on us; most of the time, he tolerates being petted, but it doesn’t seem like he likes it. Hobbes is a huge firball, but he’s a very clean cat. Our son, Calvin, moved to Honolulu last September to attend the Univ. of Hawaii.

What’s really funny is that both Hobbes and Zelda lie down on their stomachs and stretch their front legs forward and rear legs straight back…sometimes they do it simultaneously close to each other.

They are both great pets, and we thank you for making them available to us.

I’m sorry that it has been so long since I have sent an update on Zelda. She is still doing wonderful! I have attached a bunch of recent photos for you to look at. The first photo is of me and Zelda hanging out at home. The second photo is of Zelda at Petco during “doggy play day”, where Zelda was one of the most well-behaved dogs. You’ll notice how she’s just taking a breather in between play sessions with some of the other dogs. There is a Petco near my house where I take her quite frequently, and she is a favorite among the employees there. They always comment on how social and well-adjusted she is (which makes me quite the proud Momma). The third photo is of Zelda in her tangerine colored pea coat, which I bought for her during some of our freezing temperatures. I’m sure that you’ll agree she is undeniably cute in this photo, even though she tried to wrestle the coat off afterwards. The fourth photo is of her sitting on the couch (which she thinks she owns), and I added it because she looks so serious in it. And the last photo is from December when Petco was doing a Santa photo shoot.

Zelda is still a healthy girl with a great attitude. I’ve been really lucky that my schedule this quarter allows me to be able to take her to the dog park every day. I work three evenings a week, and I only have class on Tuesday mornings, so I get to spend all the rest of my time hanging out with Zelda. She now sleeps in my bed with me, and she can sleep the whole night through. Zelda’s favorite activity at the dog park is playing keep away (with sticks) from other dogs. She loves to be chased. Zelda also loves her toys! I’m very lucky that she has never tried to eat or chew any of my things; she always plays with her own toys and carries them around with her. Zelda is very social and always welcomes guests with tons of love, but she has also turned into quite a great watchdog. Especially when it is dark out, Zelda will give out a couple barks if someone is walking around outside my apartment (as there is a walkway to a parking lot), which makes me feel extra safe when I’m at home.

I took Zelda to the vet a couple weeks ago, and she is a full 50lbs now! I’m pretty excited to celebrate her first birthday with her next month.

Zelda and I are wonderful. She's settling in quite well with me here in Seattle, and we go to the park almost every day. Last weekend she had her vet appointment, so she's all up-to-date on shots. This past week, I have started taking her to the Magnusson Dog Park, which is right on the lake, so she's enjoyed the opportunity to meet other dogs and get her toes wet. I'm amazed at how well-behaved she is when she meets other animals and people-I am always getting compliments on how polite she is! She's very silly and still very cuddly. We also started taking puppy training classes at the local Petco, and she has been doing well in those. The other puppy in them is a 4 month old Samoyed puppy who's very energetic.

I can't say I have any questions for you right now- everything is going great. I couldn't have asked for a better puppy than Zelda. I have attached some photos of her in her new apartment, and I know I will be sending plenty more in the future.
