8/30/13:
Rollie continues to do well and brings a lot of laughter to us every day (as well as exercise which is handled more by Mike). Charlotte has accepted reality and now likes to play more with Rollie, several friends have noticed Charlotte has more of a spring in her step with a youngster in the house. I hope Rollie's only complaint is that he isn't allowed on every piece of furniture in the house, he continues to be sweet natured and motivated to work with us on leash walking, other basics, he's a very good boy.
8/1/13:
Mike and I wanted to give you an update on Rollie (pretty close to Rowland and Rowdy so he's responding well), we are both quite smitten with him and his sweet, gentle nature. Charlotte has had more of an adjustment but they are starting to play more and enjoy hanging out in Mike's office or the yard together during the day.
Rollie is a pretty smart guy, he's learning not to tug on daily leash walks and working on not getting on the furniture (I caved on the bed on day two so he's now learning bed-okay, couches-not okay).
All of the noises associated with close to city living seem to unnerve him some so we're working on redirection and not barking, Mike and I were cracking up yesterday when he sat in the yard and stared at the sky to watch a plane overhead until it went out of sight, very alert and intrigued.
Thanks again for everything, including the book you sent with his paperwork, it's full of good practical information. We liked the book so much we ordered a copy for my sister and brother in law in New Jersey who just got a second shelter dog (unfortunately with quite a few more issues than Rollie seems to have but a total love match for their other dog). We think things are going quite well for five days as a new family, we'll keep you posted!
