Poor Hamilton had a difficult time fitting in to his new family; our wonderful donors came together to buy a crate for Hammy during his training period, and his new family is working really hard to get Hammy and Peanut to accept each other. Fingers crossed!!

Just wanted to let you know the weekend went great. With my husband home it was a breeze. Amazing what an extra set of hands can do! Hopefully this week goes well. But good news, he won't be leaving us :) once we get the extra crate I don't think we will have any major issues.
Also, we are almost done switching Hammy over to Peanuts food and will have some leftovers of the Science Diet he was previously on. The bag has been opened but sealed completely between meals so its perfectly fine. Would we be able to donate it to the shelter? Don't worry if you can't accept it because its open, I know some places have rules about that. But if you could use it I figured we could give it to the transport diver when we pick up Hammys crate :)

As far as the measurements of the crate... it's HUGE! Haha. We didn't plan on crate training Peanut until he chewed on a power strip in the middle of the night and we woke up to it making an awful buzzing noise. We ended up borrowing a crate from a friend who had used it for his very large German Shepherd. We used to call it Peanut's Puppy Condo because he looked so ridiculously small inside of it. Our friend never ended up needing it back so we just kept it. Both Peanut and Hamilton could both be in there comfortably, it's that large.
We have also noticed he likes being outside. During the nice days we have had in the past week he will just wander outside and sleep in a nice shady spot in the grass. (I discovered this when I became worried because he had been too silent for too long, I thought he was up to no good!). The few times we have closed the door behind him however he has ripped at our back door pretty bad and left some unpleasant marks.
Funny thing about the bitter sprays, Peanut LOVES them! Haha. We used to spray it on our pants when he was little because when we walked around he wanted to get whatever was hanging from our legs! As soon as we tried it he just laid down and licked it all off. We even tried another brand in another 'flavor' and he still licked it all off. He's a weird one that's for sure. We will try the tape though!
Exercise HAS been a huge help, but Hammy doesn't seem to ever get tired! We have a long walking trail that goes along the river behind our house and we walk it at least once a day (it's about 3 miles total). Since Hammy mainly stays by either Peanut or I, he has been able to be off leash. They probably walk / run at least 4 miles once you count all the running ahead and then sprinting back to us.
I have attached some picture, they do sleep next to each other sometimes! It is like night and day with these two. One minute they are sleeping together on the couch and the next they are at each others throats over nothing!

If you could send a crate that would help a TON. Hammy is currently using Peanuts crate and I am scheduled to start my new job at the end of this month so we have been trying to decide who to leave out (both of them seem to be drawn towards our new furniture as a chew toy when left alone). We would send it back to you if Hammy doesn't stay with us (but as of this moment we have VERY high hopes that he will be with us forever with our growing amount of knowledge).
I have been looking on the Forget Me Not Facebook page and have printed out all the information you sent me. So far, I think we are in a better place than a few days ago.
Our trainer is stopping by tomorrow but last time she came by they acted like perfect angels (figures) so she didn't have much specific advice, just mainly the basics that are in the articles you sent.
Thank you so much for continuing to think about us and Hammy. He truly is a wonderful dog. Please tell whoever forgot to tell him he's not a lap dog, THANK YOU! I'm in puppy cuddle heaven :)

We have some bad news :( Peanut and Hamilton have been fighting a lot. At first it was small little fits that could be stopped by a quick, loud "NO!" but the last few days it has come to the point where we have to rip them apart. We have tried seperating them but whoever is left alone destroys furniture or scratches the wall and doors to shreads. We have taken all toys away (since that was a source of one fight) however I can't take things like the couch away (the best spot was also the cause of a fight). No one has been hurt so far, but we don't want it to get to that point. If both of us were home all day this wouldn't be an issue but since my husband is gone at work 60+ hours a week its impossible for me to keep them both safe and our home in one piece. They got into a bad fight while my husband was gone and its really hard for me to seperate them by myself.
We have deeply fallen in love with little Hammy but we don't want to put either dog through this kind of stress. Both dogs are miserable when its their turn to be locked away and alone and it kills me.
My husband and I want to see if a few more tips from our trainer will help this weekend but if not we will sadly have to return him to your wonderful care :( if we do have to return him I highly suggest placing him as an only dog. He is such a lover and cuddle bug but he really doesn't like sharing toys, space, and human attention with other dogs. Or, at least not Peanut.
If this doesn't work out we would love to still adopt a dog from you guys. We strongly believe in adoption and really want to give a dog a loving home.
