I will write again with more time but just a shout out hoping your well along with the critters! Gucci Goo is awesome! Incredibly affectionate! Seriously coolest cat ever and with all his toys that surround him, his favourite is a $2 bag of hair ties and actually retrieves them back to me to shoot again. 4am I'll feel a hair tie drop on my chest in bed along with the gentlest meow you have ever heard! Love him to pieces.....thanks again!1/15/14:

Lying on the couch, and all of a sudden I have a visitor! We're getting there....

Gucci has made great progress and has been hiding under the couch upstairs with me the past week and is no longer running to a different room. He is purring all the time under there and has become social to the extent of eating out of my hand, letting me pat him and playing with his wand toy with me, so tremendous progress! The big breakthrough was last night when he came out from under the couch while I was doing dishes and ran through his tunnel a couple of times but as soon as we made eye contact he dove back under the couch. It probably doesnt sound too big a deal, but for him its huge! He let himself be a normal cat for about 30 seconds!
I put him on the Bach Rescue Remedy for pets to calm him and it has been a big help along with the cat music cd he has. I know he has used the litter while I was just in the next room which is a welcome relief after he did a doody on my bed when he was too scared to pass me to get to the pan upstairs:( All in all, it has had a bit more of a challenge to him than I thought but when those small little breakthroughs happen, it is not just a grin for success but also knowing Im in a way rehabilitating a lost soul who deserves a chance. If I had known he would be so difficult, I get sad to think its possible I would have looked at another cat like everyone else did so everything worked out perfectly, I would have not changed a thing!! The greatest of all is I dont even know I have an allergy to cats!
You have been beyond helpful and accomodating to me, you gave me the advice and determination to work with Gucci, everyday for weeks doing stuff I dont do like singing nursery rhymes and and meowchirping like he does. I, am sure among many, truly appreciate you! Thank you for checking on us, we are very close to becoming snuggle mates, I will make you the first to know when it happens!

Hope all is well with you and the furry friends! Well Gucci is coming along nicely but is still hiding under the bed when I am around. He is still pretty nervous as just the other night, I was on the couch and he was pacing up and down the stairs as if trying to pass me to get into the bathroom and sure enough, he did a poo poo on the stairs. I didn't say anything to him and just picked it up as I figured a" no" might scare him and a soft" it's ok" may get interpreted as that's cool. He tried to get where he needed to go and that's good enough for me.
On the other hand, he's out from the bed having a party the minute I lay down, playing with all his toys and exploring. He's only eating in the evening but on a regular basis so I think once he is completely relaxed, his appetite will correct itself. My buddy and I have pulled him out a few times from where he is hiding and Gucci will tolerate it but it doesn't seem to help any as he just wants away from us so the vet said just let him come to you.
I don't mind waiting...I read online the adjustment period can be up to 3 months, we just passed our 3 week mark so I guess he's kinda on schedule. I never would have thought it would take so long but makes me feel good that I have him and he can take all the time he wants vs him going from home to home because people don't want to work with him. He is quite the spoiled kitty with a water fountain, extra long furry wrinkle tunnel, tree, lounger, endless treats/toys, plush blankets, raw quail diet 2x week with top of the line food in between. It will make me feel like a million bucks the first time he comes to me for a thank you hug! In the meantime, singing away!

Gucci is eating well now but only when it's dead quiet in the house. He has moved back to behind the washer after I discovered his other hiding places. One in particular, I can reach him while he's back there and was patting him for a bit....He hasn't gone back there in a few days though....Well the time has come where I must do laundry for work tomorrow, I know you said I should just go ahead and stick with my usual routine but it's fairly noisy and I'm nervous it will set him back and may trigger not eating again. I think that was more stressful for me! It seems he doesn't want to go back to the hiding places I discovered. I'm debating going to my buddy's place to do the wash....I don't want him to hide forever!
He seems to be very accepting of the head petting and I have a feeling he may just be waiting for me to make the first move. The laser and toys don't do anything quite yet so I will wait a bit longer and then maybe try to lift him out of his spot.
