10/1/13:

Hope this finds you and all the volunteers at FMNAS doing well! Wanted to give you a little update on Gemma. She is doing great! Yesterday she had her second check up at the vet and got her Rabies vaccine and a clean bill of health! On her visit to the vet on September 3rd she weighed 4.5lbs and yesterday she weighed 6.1 so she is really growing. The vet thinks she is going to be a big, tall girl, and I would have to agree. Here are a couple of photos, so you may see her progress. The one on the pink towel was at her appointment yesterday, where they gave her kitty treats! There is not a day that goes by that we are not happy about the decision we made to adopt Gemma, she is such a joy. Thank you again!

What do you mean I have to get out of the tree? But, I love this tree... It's like my own private jungle...Life in Centralia is easy. Thank you Kim, and all the volunteers at FMNAS for taking such good care of me. Love and kitty kisses xo Gemma fna Kubuli

I wanted to let you know that Gemma is having lots of fun here in Centralia. The ride home from Monroe was very uneventful for her as she slept almost the whole 3.5 hour trip! Nero was a little less relaxed, but very affectionate and he had such a loud purr for such a little guy! We met his new Mom as planned and smiles were had all around!
Speaking of smiles, I wished I had thought of it when we were in Monroe, and I could have snapped some shots of all the smiles of the folks picking up their new friends. Ear to ear smiles, adults and children, the kind of smiles that only come from a place when you know you've made a good decision to adopt a new lifelong pet family member. The smiles were priceless.
Gemma really likes her people, and wants to hang out where we are. Last night she couldn't really be bothered to be picked up, so much to see and do, you know, but now she comes right over and wants to be picked up and loved on. Paul said this morning, "the shelter you chose really seems to have done it right, with her being so friendly and unafraid". She knows where her water and food dishes are and also has no problem navigating the cat door from our kitchen out to our laundry room where she uses the litter box like a champ. She is also very much mesmerized by the TV, all the movement and pretty colors! I think she gets that from Paul's side of the family *:) happy HA
Mason pouted last night, but he went upstairs to bed with us as usual and today he is hanging out more and more, and I'm spending just Mason and Mom time, which we both enjoy. Gemma ignores him, but they have both been on the large climbing structure that Paul put together at the beginning of the week in anticipation of Gemma's arrival, and so I'm confident that each day will bring more tolerance and acceptance and with that, more kitty fun! Right now Gemma is taking a little snooze in her bed next to my chair, occasionally stretching very long and getting her purr on and Mason is sleeping on his favorite blanket on the sofa.
Again, thank you for putting us together with Gemma and please thank Janiece for bringing her and the other pets over to this side of the state to be united with their new forever families.
