Wanted to share a couple pictures and a story about Dooley --

We spent 6 weeks down in Arizona in Jan/Feb camping on the desert with all three dogs.  Cassie, our Aussie Shepherd, hurt her foot pad so we bandaged it up and pulled a sock over it and taped it up around her leg.  She was fine with that and ran all over.  At the end of the second day of the bandage, she and the other dogs went for a run with a friend who was on one of our 4-wheelers.  When they came back, she didn't have her sock on any more and we were told she lost it down the trail a ways.

The next morning Ron put Cassie up behind him on the 4-wheeler (where she loves to ride) and took the other dogs with to go find the sock as we didn't want to litter.  Dooley was up ahead of him on the trail and Ron saw him spot the sock and go over and pick it up.  He trotted back to Ron and then kept going back to camp and brought it over to me and dropped it at my feet.  He seemed to know Cassie needed to have her sock on.

He is such a special, kind and loving dog.  I am attaching a couple pictures - we took walks out on the desert where we were camped and they all loved it.  We were camped beside a very big wash about a mile across - down below us was damp sand and Dooley made his "nest" down there to take his naps.  He loved the attention he got when my great-nephews came to visit.

Here are some pictures of Dooley.  He is so special to us and has adopted us !!  Every morning he sits up above the house on a hill that looks down on the pastures on one side and our yard on the other and just watches everything.  It reminds us of the Pyrenees we have seen in Montana watching the sheep.

He doesn't have a mean bone in his body and his tail is wagging all the time.  He loves to run with us when we take the 4-wheelers up on our trails.  He and our Australian Shepherd Cassie have become good friends.  If we are riding and Cassie is lagging behind, Dooley stops and waits for her.  He watches Cassie and our Border Collie Dumas and learns from them.   It is a bit un-nerving how much he is similar to our big dog Tok who passed away a couple years ago at 15.  Tok was Newfoundland and McKenzie River Husky (we got him in Alaska as an 8 week old puppy back in 1996).  Dooley sleeps in the same spot under the open steps going up to the loft just like Tok did and has so many of the same mannerisms.

We want to thank you again for allowing us to be Dooley's new parents.

Dooley is doing wonderfully - he fits in to our family and we can tell he knows he belongs here.  Every morning he makes the "rounds" around the yard and always goes up on the hill off from the yard and sits or lays there watching - it reminds us of seeing Great Pyrenees watching over their flocks in Montana.

Ron just took off on the 4-wheeler to go up in the woods to check on some log cuttting and all three dogs were right behind him.  Dooley is getting a lot of exercise.  Yesterday we had a fellow here trimming up some trees up above and every time Ron went up to check on him, the dogs were right there tagging along behind the 4-wheeler.  They were all really tired last night after 3 trips up and down!!

I will send pictures soon.  I lost my camera and have another one coming.  (it's hard being without a camera !!)

Thanks for the receipt and especially all the help you and your volunteers gave us.  We thank you very much.  We love Dooley so much.
