7/9/12:

Things are going great, she is a wonderful dog. I can't believe how much she loves running. There haven't been any more problems with her anxiety licking and she seems very happy since she has been trained with the underground fence, she chases birds for hours. We couldn't be happier with what a nice dog we have found, and I think that based on how quick she is to learn I should be able to take her pheasant hunting this fall. Thanks for all you do at the shelter.

Scharlie is a great dog. She has gotten along great with everybody and is a pleasure. I have noticed however that she has been licking her paws and chewing them sometimes when she is anxious. I was wondering if this is a common thing when a dog is adjusting to a new home and if there is anything I should be doing to correct the behavior. I have just been distracting her by playing with her, but wasn't sure if I should be doing something else or if this is something I should be seriously concerned about. For the most part though she seems to be adjusting very well to her new home. She is a very smart dog and is eager to do tricks for me; she already knows sit, lie down, shake and is learning to play dead. Any advice on the paw chewing would be greatly appreciated.

(NOTE: we sent along some info on causes of excessive licking/chewing)

UPDATE 6/22/12:

I think it was probably just stress from the move that was causing it, I've only seen her licking her paws once today, and she has seemed much more relaxed since I took her to the dog park this afternoon.
