Sage, all grown up, on the right:
11/5/12
Just a short update on little Miss Sage. She is doing wonderfully and we adore her even more than when she first arrived, if that is even possible. She is so incredibly smart and is the perfect fit for our family. She and Abrial are just getting on famously and Abrial has been incredibly patient with an excitable little puppy. Sage loves Abrial and wants to be wherever she is. Or draped across my lap. Either is acceptable to her. And me. :^)
I've been eagerly watching the updates from the other poodles and am very glad to hear the reports. I keep praying Daisy is found, poor girl. My heart just breaks for her.
Here's a cute picture of my little prissy pot showing off the enormous leaves in our backyard. (I go outside with her so she doesn't EAT the leaves or the pinecones! I'm terrified she will do just that! She does love to carry things in her mouth, so I think this will be a behavior to work with - after we learn "drop it.")
I think she is not black. Or I guess I should say I don't think she will stay black. I think she is going to blue. Her face is much lighter than my black, Abrial, even with all of Abrial's old lady gray on her muzzle!
She really is something else. I told you about how well she did yesterday with her bath. She slept all night last night in her crate by my bed. No whining in the least. Slept until I got up this morning. Thus far, she hasn't had any accidents in the house. If she gets a little whiny, I bring her outside and I know right away why she was whining. :^)
I was surprised she wasn't afraid AT ALL of the buzz of the clippers and was really very good. I keep first puppy clips short and sweet (face, feet, and sanitary clip) and she made that easy to do. Then we went for her first walk on a leash. She wasn't sure at first, but when she saw big sister Abrial doing it, she trotted right along after. I have a goal of her encountering 100 different people in her first 100 days with me and today she checked off at least nine!
She came home and squeaked a toy for at least 20 minutes straight. We laughed and laughed. She'd squeak it and then throw it in the air and chase it. Our cats do that! She has tuckered herself out and has been snoozing in my office with me. I'm getting ready to take her and Abrial out for the last time and head to bed.
Love, love, love this baby, in case you can't tell. Again, thank you so very much for our baby!
My daughter took this picture of Sage with her baby between her paws. No, this was not posed. She is sweet beyond belief and we are all in love. She has been excited, yet politely behaved with Abrial. Pottying outside. Ate a good supper. Had a bath and fell asleep IN MY LAP while i was blowing her out. I almost started crying. My Cosette whom we lost in August would fall asleep standing up with her head on my shoulder when I'd blow her out. And this orange un-stuffed toy was one of Cosette's favorites. How crazy is that? But Sage is her own girl and already we see her sweet personality. Love that expressive long tail! Thank you for all you did working to get Sage into our hearts and home. We appreciate it so much! She is a love!
