In the last day Weasley has opened up HUGE! He now follows me EVERYWHERE I go and is constantly rubbing on my legs and purring. This tells me that he is getting more comfortable with his surroundings. Potter was even rubbing against Maddy, the dog, this morning and purring. No more accidents although Weasley acted like he was going to try on the same chair and I saw him so I just took him to the litter box and he went. So I think we are on our way to a stress free home with the boys!

Well we are totally in love with our boys! They are so wonderful!! We have renamed them (as we are big Harry Potter fans and since Pistachio has the Harry Potter bolt on his head) we named him Potter and we named Chestnut: Weasley. After Harry Potter and his best friend Ron Weasley. Weasley is having a bit of a problem with his belly as I had different kitty food for them. It gave him diarrhea. I didn't realize that I needed to mix their old cat food and their new stuff to get them use to it. We decided to just feed them Science Diet for good and even switched our dog to it too.
I was wondering if you have any suggestions for a little issue that we have had with Weasley. He has peed on our recliner twice and pooped on the same recliner once. He also pooped on a couch pillow. He does use the litter box just fine if he is by it. Any suggestions? Potter has had no accidents. Other than that (which I am confident will stop once they are used to the house), they are so perfect!!
Our dog, Maddy, doesn't even seem to notice them unless they get to wrestling around and then she wants in on the action and the boys are not to sure about that yet. LOL Thanks for such a smooth transaction and your volunteers were great and very helpful!! I will send some new pics of the boys to the shelter's Facebook page. We love Potter and Weasley to death!! (PS: Brad let Potter practically sleep on his head all night the 1st night!! LOL- such a softie!)
Shelter reply regarding litterbox issues:
We recommend that you start off with the kittens in one room, so they can get used to where the litterbox is, and then gradually increase the portions of the home to which they have access. It's also a good idea to have one litterbox on each floor, or at each end of a long house. For the items that have been soiled, you will want to clean them with an enzymatic cleaner, or they will continue to be tempting targets, as to a cat they will give off a "go potty here" scent. Mmmmmm. (ha) I'm sure he'll be back to his usual litterbox-using self in no time! You are right, it is a temporary "glitch" in his programming and he will resume perfection eventually.
