1/8/12:

DeJa and Scoche are doing very well. Sadly though once DeJa ventured out of his carrier Scoche immediately went into hiding. We're not sure why because DeJa didn't pick on him in any way, but he's getting braver and coming out a little more every day.

However, we had a good friend stay the night on New Years Eve and he hid under the day bed the entire time she was here. But De Ja made up to her right away.

She's Japanese, born in Hawaii, and her parents taught her Japanese by speaking it in the home, so now she's bilingual. When Kate told her the name Scoche and that we were trying to get him used to Sox she lit up like a Christmas tree. It turns out that Scoche is a Japanese name and it means little one. So even though she's having a terrible time pronouncing it she has decided we should contine to call him Scoche. By the way, it's pronounced Sco-shee, in Japanese.

Now that our house is just us again Scoche is coming back out again and getting on the bed with Kate. However, DeJa sleeps on one corner of my bed. Kate is thrilled with the way they react to her and that they come to her when she calls them, just like a dog would. I think we have done a very good thing for Kate and for 2 scared kitties who are now adjusting to their forever home. We are truly becoming a family and it's very nice.
