Adopted July 2010
8/26/12:
Yesterday 8/25/12 we were up at the Carbon river having a day in the sun with our family.. a car drove up to us to ask directions up the mountain to a popular hiking trail to Spirit Lake. After giving them Directions, they asked us what kind of dog Sydney was. I responded with what he was and they said "cool, we have one of those too." they started to pull away when I hollered at them and asked them where they got their dog. Most people don't know where Republic is, so he said "a small northeast town in Washington". So I asked if it was Republic WA.. he said yes.. so I asked if it was Forget me not Shelter.. he said yes.. I asked when he adopted the dog, he said about two years ago.. and I exclaimed, "I think our dogs are brothers!!!!"
Turns out they sure are two of the three that you fine folks adopted out in July 2010.
It was a small world/fate works in mysterious ways sort of incidents. What are the odds that a family from Tacoma, and a family from Redmond just happen to be in the same place on the same day and they happened to have dog twins from the same litter?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
We have always wondered what ever became of the other pups in the litter and now we know where at least one of them is in life!
12/27/10:
Sydney has had a great winter! He loved the snow except when he had to get his ball. He didn't like the cold in his mouth!! He loves going to the dog park and has been doing great with his training. We're hoping that he continues to do well and that he will be able to start agility soon! Sydney likes Christmas... so much in fact that about a week before he decided to open a present. It wasn't for him so he was a little sad. But on Christmas day Santa Paws brought him a few goodies that make him very happy. His new favorite is his new chuck-it! We love him very much, well all of us except our cat Smash... and we are pretty sure he loves us right back!
July 2010:
Sydney came to us two weeks before our wedding and was our choice of children as we decided not to have anymore two-legged kids.
He has grown to almost 25lbs in the 3 short months that we have had him.
Our whole family is so glad that we adopted Sydney, with the exception of Sitka (our 13 year old Siberian Husky). Big sister secretly likes Sydney but won't admit it. Sydney keeps sister young at heart and sharp in thoughts and actions!
Sydney has been so much fun for us all with all of his energy. He has brought our family together in ways that we would have never imagined! One of his favorite things is to go to the dog park and meet new friends and fetch his ball. We work on his commands of "bring it" and "drop it" and "come" while at the dog park. All of which he has mastered. He graduated Magna Cum Laude of his puppy kindergarten at Positive Approach Dog school and daycare. He also likes to hang out once in a while at daycare with all his buddies from puppy school. Sydney is full of energy and keeps mommy going while she runs 3 times a week.
A huge Thank you to Forget Me Not Shelter for letting Sydney come to us as our final family member. We love him dearly and our family would not be complete without him!

Just wanted to send you pictured of Sydney's(Melbourne) first little bit home. He fit right in, did well on his tether (we just practiced a little), He even pretty much potty trained himself in one night (or so we hope). It's going well for the first 12 hours so far!!! Pharon is doing really well with him too!
Sitka is less than thrilled that she is no longer the center of attention, but she will get over it with time. Sydney is a little hyper for her sleepy old puppy ways but she is being very patient with him and his constant need to play with her. She is Jealous, but in an extremely passive way. She just looks depressed so we are trying to make sure she knows that she has not been replaced. On night 2 Sydney has already picked up on paper training. He had a rough first night (we were up every hour-hour and a half) his second night though we only got up twice. He is adjusting well and we are so happy that we have him! Thank you so much!
