10/21/10:
The adventures of Diana: well she settled in just fine and after a time we opened the door to let her start exploring. That went very well until last week when she got herself stuck in the top of a very tall pine tree and refused to come down. Well, there is no one that comes out and fetches cats out of trees anymore so after 4 days of being stuck and not being able to tempt her down with food, the park aide climbed up the ladder as far as he could make it go (while two senior park volunteers spotted him on the ladder) and retrieved her. She had lost some weight, but other than that was perfectly fine. Oh and the standoffish cat that didn't care for attention has done a complete turn around and is very loving AND will trip you while rubbing on your legs. She just didn't care for life with other cats in it.
9/25/10:
Diana is doing well. She talks to us when we're in the shop, is eating just fine, and even came out to be held for a bit last night and have her head scratched. We're not allowing her out of her 700 crate unless she's in our arms because I don't want to have to catch her in the huge park shop if she decides to climb. In a few days we'll give that a shot. She doesn't seem too nervous, though, or looking for a means of escape.
