Adopted August and September 2010
After a very long time in foster care, and worried that the girls would never be adopted, Angel and Maxine's foster mom adopted them herself. Shortly afterward, she found them a PERFECT new home, so it was happy endings for all!
9/15/10 (from forever home adopter):
The girls have settled in wonderfully. We had no accidents in the house until yesterday. We let them stay down stairs for the first time and they had an accident on the floor. We usually put them upstairs in the bedroom where their bed is. Next time we are gone we will put them back upstairs. Lexi is so cute. She gets so excited to see you…..first thing in the morning she acts like she hasn’t seen you for years. If you go to the store it is like being away forever. She jumps up and down and kisses you it is quite cute. Angel is starting to play a lot more. She has taken possession of every ball we have in the house. You will see her run out and grab it and drag it behind the chair with her when she is laying down. I find them both so funny. As for giving them back, that will never happen. The girls have a home for the rest of their lives - They have both wiggled their way into our hearts!!

I am missing the girls a lot but the first few days-to-week was the hardest. They were adopted on Sept. 1. They understand Maxine’s need for exercise. In addition to the condo, they have a house and horses on a 5-acre property and they go up there 2-3 days a week. She also has two dogs up there--two 7 yr. old Malamute females! We talked about protocol for introduction so I hope it goes well. I visited the girls after 1 week and the adopters were open and eager for advice, which I gave them, about a few little problems, and we nipped right in the bud then and there! They seemed very appreciative for the help and that felt really, really good. But when it was time to leave and I saw the door close on those beautiful dog faces I had become so accustomed to, I bawled all the way home. BTW, they changed Maxine’s name to Lexi, which I think is perfect, sounds similar but is a little more pretty and elegant and less heavy and truck driver-y. Despite those feelings, which I know will fade, I feel like everything worked out for the best, and I am glad that I waited for the right home….and it came! I got scared a lot that it wouldn’t. Thank YOU for letting me make a difference!
