Adopted January 2008: Portland, OR (the adopter drove to Republic to pick up their puppy!)

"I just wanted to let you know that we got Phurba home and she is going great. She's picking up on things pretty quickly and proving to be a very smart little girl. I still think we're going to have our hands full but she is worth it. I have a few questions that I am hoping you can talk to the breeder about. What kind of food schedule and crate schedule was she on? How much did they feed her at each sitting? Did she often get hiccups? She's had them a few times already. I'm going to call the vet to ask if that is something we should be worried about. I know that Phurba lived with other dogs and cats, how was she around them? In a couple situations she's been really scared and even snipped at another puppy. I'm sure this is part of the acclimation process but again, just wanted to ask. I think that is all the questions for now actually. This is definitely a learning process for Stephen and I but we love her so much already and are so happy to have her in our lives."

Note: hiccups are common with puppies; read more about puppy hiccups here:

Also, country puppies can sometimes have extra anxieties when adjusting to a city or suburban setting; we anticipate Phurba will get over her fear as soon as she feels secure in her new surroundings. She was very outgoing with other country pups, and exhibited no fear reactions during foster care. We look forward to the next followup!
