Update 12/26/09:
Mom says to tell you she is sorry we are late getting this card and letter out. We got to celebrate Grandpa's 94th birthday Dec. 12. Mom says I perk her Dad up when he sees me because he gets a big smile on his face.
We had such a great Christmas this year and I got two gifts from Mom's sister. She gave me a toy and some treats! I was so excited! Mom says I obviously like them because I keep asking for more; but, Mom says I can only have so many treats in a day.
Mom says to tell you that I am learning good manners, well most of the time, unless I get very excited and then some times I forget. She says it is like having another teenager around, always reminding them to say please and thank you. Well, not to brag but I do say please when I want a treat. I do something like part of a sneeze sound. Hard to explain but Mom knows what I mean. Some times if Mom wants to give me a treat before I think of it; she will ask me to say please and I do my sneeze. Then I sit, without her telling me to and patiently wait for my treat. Well, most of the time patiently, but, I still only get so many treats in the day. When I am going with Mom somewhere, I know that I can’t rush out the door before Mom, so I sit and wait for Mom to tell me it is ok to go through the door. I usually sit without Mom having to tell me to sit.
Mom and I hope you and all of our friends in Republic had a great Christmas and we wish you all a prosperous and Happy New Year. Oh, and Mom says you can’t have me back!
Update from Jillie Sept 2009:
I thought I would write and let you know how things have gone these past months. First off, my Mom keeps saying she can't believe September 20th will be one year since I came to my "forever" home. Mom and I have been so busy helping Grandma and Grandpa. Every time we get to their house, Grandma puts my blanket down so I have something to lay on, if I want. Grandma and Grandpa have a 40 acre farm so when we go out there Mom helps with chores and then Mom and i go outside and wander around. There is a pond outthere and I have taken a few plops in the pond as sometimes I get to running so fast and sometimes the edge is hard to see. The first time I plopped into the pond I really scared Mom but I showed her that I was ok and it isn't that deep. Also, Mom says I seem to know better now when to stop.
Another thing that we have been doing this summer is taking walks in town, checking things out. Mom says I have to tell you this but I don't want to sound like I am bragging but when people stop to talk they usually ask about me and say I am so sweet and beautiful! Mom usually tells the people a bit of my story and then the people make more fuss over meand I must admit that I love every minute of it! When we get home, I nap.
Today my Mom's friend Bob and his dog Austin came to visit and we went for a great ride, and when we got there Austin and I ran and played and got really tired. Here he is:
There is so much more that I could tell you but what I really want you to know is that I am happy. My happy tail wags all of the time and is still on my bum, and I have my happy smile, and I have lots of pooch friends! Mom says about three months ago when I climbed up on the couch with her and I laid my head in her lap, I gave a gentle sigh and I heard my Mom say that it was like I was saying I really do have my "forever home". Oh, yes, and Mom says you can't have me back!
