"Just wanted to let you know that everything has been going well with DeeDee. We did decide to keep her name. She has settled into our family nicely. The kids have fallen in love with her. We love to get out and take her to the park when it's not pouring rain. Have a few issues with chewing on the kids shoes, I just have to remind them to put them away and not to leave them where she can get to them. She's doing very well with her potty training, she hasn't had an accident in about a week. We are very happy to have DeeDee as a part of our family."
Ah, yes... puppy chewing!! Usually little puppies, like DeeDee, chew because they are teething... they simply *must* chew, so the best plan is to do as you are doing and put shoes away, plus make sure to give her lots of great teething chew toys. Sometimes the best things are the simplest - a wet, twisted washcloth placed in the freezer can provide hours of chewing comfort for teething puppies. Puppy Kongs and other chew-type toys can be hit or miss -- sometimes it takes a few tries to find JUST the thing, that perfect chew object the puppy can't resist.
