Luna 0588

Luna is a sweet, affectionate 2-year-old pug mix girl. Her owner didn't have time to give her the attention or training she needs, so she ended up living tied up outside all the time - no life for a loving girl like Luna!
She is a cuddle-bug who loves to be with people... she can pull pretty hard on leash, but since she only weighs about 25 pounds, she doesn't separate your arm from its socket (ha). After she's been walking for a few minutes, she tends to settle down and relax, for a more enjoyable walk for everyone.
Her former owner says she is pretty much potty-trained, but does have some chewing behaviors when bored/alone, and sometimes will dig under fences. She can be a little overly enthusiastic when the volunteers first greet her, but she settles pretty quickly - she should do very well in a home where she can get a few short but brisk walks each day, and has people around to play with and to cuddle her. She's a bit bigger than a typical pug, but still thinks she is a lap dog, and would like nothing more than to be your companion and confidante.
Luna went into a foster home toward the end of September, and her foster mom says she is actually a DREAM dog! Here is her 9/27 update:
Just want to report on Luna and I am glad to be able to say that she is a fine dog! She has not shredded or chewed on one thing in my house since she has been here and I know that that was one of her issues. I think she is doing so well in that department because she is never alone. If I am not here she has the company of my dogs and the cat. They would frown upon any of that kind of behavior! Seriously, I think her shredding/chewing was probably an anxiety behavior.
She is a playful dog who comes when she is called and does not wander. She is not a yippy barker--barks appropriately (ie: when someone drives up or one of the other dogs barks at something). She is respectful to my cat, even when the cat hisses at her. I think she is a good-to-go kind of dog. Would probably do well in a place with another dog or at the very least a dog-friendly cat. She gets along great with my two big dogs and plays well with Blazer, my big black lab mix. I think she is really sweet. She was even great with a friend's dog who came over today. And the friend too. Her only issue that I can see is that she is a bit food aggressive (not with me but with the other dogs) .
Her foster mom manages the mealtime potential for squabbles by feeding the dogs in separate places, giving them a set time to eat, and then removing the food. This keeps harmony in homes with a dog (or dogs) that doesn't like to share their food.
Like all our adult pet placements, Luna comes with a 30-day money-back trial adoption period.
Here is a short video of this cutie.
Spay, worming, microchip and all age-appropriate shots are always completed before placement, and are included in the adoption fee (suggested minimum $75; more gratefully accepted!) Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
