Adopted April 2009

1/23/12:

Last time it was the “pre-certification” test, this time Anastasia and Hopi passed the official certification test for Snohomish County Volunteer K9 SAR.  Saturday in icy wind, rain and snow, they got the job done!  Very exciting for us and almost three years since they got started.  Wahoo!

1/6/12:

Happy New Year! We rang it in on a 3 day backcountry ski trip near Stevens Pass -- far enough away from anyone that the dogs got to run willy nilly wherever they wanted to whole time. Attached is a picture of a tired Hopi at the end of her third day of skiing.

Anastasia and Hopi passed their pre-test certification with Snohomish County’s K9 Airscent team yesterday! They’ve worked hard, pretty much from the day Hopi came home, toward this, so it’s really exciting for us – of course, Hopi just thought she was getting to run around in the woods and eat chicken teriyaki and cheese sticks the whole time… Thank you so much for what you do! We wouldn’t have the little fluffer if it weren’t for you.

9/25/09: Hope you had a great summer -- wanted to let you know that Hopi is doing wonderfully, as is no surprise. She's really enjoying her search and rescue training and has become a pretty athletic little pup. She runs with Anastasia a couple of times a week and, after dropping all of her puppy fur in the spring and looking svelte for the summer, she's grown out her undercoat and is substantially fluffier, though still tipping the scales at a delicate 35 pounds.

7/14/09:

Just wanted to give you a couple more pictures of The Hopinator. She's doing exceptionally well and has been the easiest puppy imaginable. She had her first official SAR dog training the other day and is in the middle of an advanced obedience class which is challenging all of us. The pictures attached are from a hike last Saturday, where she hopped and jumped up steep rocky trails without a problem, though she scampered into the shade of the car when we got back.

Hopi's still doing great. Here's a short video I put together for Anastasia, as she's travelling at the moment and missing the pupster...

Enjoy!

4/21/09:

Just wanted to give you Hopi's "ten-day" update. She's settled in extraordinarily well, transforming from a happy, narcoleptic puppy who was very skittish on our neighborhood walks to a happy, thermo-nuclear puppy who loves to chase and wrestle and roll around. She's been working with Anastasia on training and has sit, down and up dialed in, as well as some targeting and a VERY dramatic "play dead". She's sleeping and eating well and is probably the cutest puppy in Seattle at this point.

4/11/09:

Hopi didn't have a single issue the entire drive back. Napped like we'd drugged her whenever the car was moving and happily played and ran around on the 4 or 5 stops we made. No accidents in the car or upset stomach and she didn't even pee until we got all the way home.

Needless to say, she's now unconscious downstairs, overstimulated from all the new things. She's a doll and we couldn't be happier. We'll keep you posted on her progress. Pics attached of a couple of our stops on the way home...

Thank you!!
