Adopted locally to a fun family 1/30/07; this kitten developed ringworm prior to placement, but the adopter was familiar with ringworm and felt comfortable continuing his treatment at home, so decided to adopt him before we finished treating. We use a 3-prong treatment for ringworm: topical wipes, topical cream, oral antifungal medication for difficult cases. For mild cases, the topical solutions usually work fine. Many shelters routinely euthanize any cat or kitten that shows symptoms of ringworm; we prefer to treat in a foster home setting, and have one foster home that is set aside specifically for ringworm treatment. For further information on ringworm, please email.

"He is doing really well. He and Garfield chase one another all over the house. He loves his feather mouse toy. He carries it around the house growling at everything, and throws it and catches it. He is a riot! The kids and he adore each other. As far as his ringworm goes, I think it's alright. He hasn't developed any new spots, but he is still losing hair on his ears. We are continuing the ointment and I think if he isn't improving by the end of the week I may have him checked again. I have an appointment for the other two cats for next week and I think I'll have him seen at that time, but only if there are not marked improvments. I'll have the kids pose for some "happy home" pictures and email them to you. We've taken a couple already for their Daddy to see. Well, thanks for following up. We are all really doing great."
